Using PLANET NAS Assistant on Mac
Using PLANET Filer Assistant on Mac OS 9
Before You Start
1. Connect the NAS server to the LAN and turn on the server.
2. Set the resolution of the client terminal screen to 1024*768 or higher.
3. Make sure Mac OS Runtime for Java 2.2.5 (MRJ 2.2.5) is installed on the client. (you can
download it from:

4. Make sure the IE version is 5.0 or above and its Java security options is configured as
“
Unrestricted Access
”
. (Edit-> Preferences-> Web Browser-> Java-> Network access->
Unrestricted Access)
Setup
1. Double click
“
NAS5000SeriesAssistant.sit
”
to extract the file.
2.
Enter the extracted folder and activate
“
NAS5000SeriesAssistant
”
.
3. Except the following functions, PLANET NAS-5000 series Assistant for Mac OS 9 functions the
same as that for Windows.
i.
PLANET NAS-5000 series Assistant for Mac OS 9 does not provide the
“
Map Drive
”
function.
ii.
When you set up the NAS server with "Unknown" status, PLANET NAS-5000 series
Assistant for Windows will open a new dialog box for setup, while PLANET NAS-5000
series Assistant for Mac OS 9 will show related data on the top of the same dialog box
for the system administrator to set up.
iii. When setting up a NAS server with "Unknown" status, if you select "Use manual
configuration", PLANET NAS-5000 series Assistant for Windows will provide "Suggest"
options, but PLANET NAS-5000 series Assistant for Mac OS 9 does not provide the
option. The system administrator should manually enter related data.
