Surround sound settings
Using the Setup menu
F r om the Setu p menu you can access all the
su rr ound sound settings of the system

,
including channel levels, s p eake r distances
and dynamic r ange adjustment. The Auto
MCACC featu r e ( p age 12) should give you the
best su rr ound sound setu p . Howeve r you may
find that by fu r the r adjustment of the su rr ound
sound settings you can im pr ove the su rr ound
sound in you r listening r oom.
1 Press SHIFT+SETUP and use
/
then
ENTER to choose the setting you want to
adjust.
The available settings a r e shown in the f r ont
p anel dis p lay.

confirm and exit.
• Note that using the Auto MCACC ( p age 12)

Channel level setting
Set the r elative channel levels f r om you r main
listening p osition.

• L – F r ont left s p eake r
• C – Cente r s p eake r

R
– F r ont r ight s p eake r
• SR – Su rr ound r ight s p eake r
•
SL
– Su rr ound left s p eake r
•
SW
– Subwoofe r
The channel level r ange is ±10 dB.
Speaker distance setting
S p ecifies the distance f r om you r listening
p osition to you r s p eake r s.

• L – F r ont left s p eake r

• SW – Subwoofe r
Each s p eake r can be adjusted between 1 ft.
and 30 ft. . The default setting is 10.0 ft. .
Dynamic Range Control
S p ecifies dynamic r ange adjustment to Dolby
Digital o r some DTS soundt r acks. If low level
sound o r dialogue seem difficult to hea r
pr o p e r ly, this can hel p by b r inging u p the low
level sounds, while cont r olling high level
p eaks.
• DRC OFF (default) – No dynamic r ange
adjustment (use when listening at highe r
volumes)
•
DRC MID
– Mid setting
• DRC HIGH – Dynamic r ange is r educed
(loud sounds a r e r educed in volume while
quiete r sounds a r e inc r eased)

2 The setu p menu is exited automatically afte r five minutes of inactivity.
3 • You can’t adjust cente r /su rr ound when Ste r eo o r Vi r tual p layback is selected (o r with ste r eo sou r ces using the Auto mode).
• The Channel level setting is not available when head p hones a r e connected.
• The s p eake r volume can be adjusted at any time by pr essing SHIFT+TEST TONE and then using
/
to adjust the channel
levels. The test tone automatically moves f r om s p eake r to s p eake r in the o r de r listed above. You should hea r the test tone at the
same volume f r om each s p eake r when seated in the main listening p osition. P r ess
ENTER
when you’ r e finished.
• Since the subwoofe r pr oduces ult r a-low f r equencies it may seem quiete r than it actually is.
