Listening to your system
Auto listening mode
The Auto listening mode is the sim p lest way to
listen to any sou r ce as it was maste r ed: the
out p ut f r om the s p eake r s mi rr o r s the channels
in the sou r ce mate r ial.
• If you set u p the system fo r F r ont su rr ound
( p age 11), the F r ont Su rr ound modes will
give the best r esults.
• Press SURROUND to select the AUTO
listening mode.

Listening in surround sound
You can listen to ste r eo o r multichannel
sou r ces in su rr ound sound.

Su rr ound sound
is gene r ated f r om ste r eo sou r ces using one of
the Dolby P r o Logic decoding modes.
• If you set u p the system fo r F r ont su rr ound
( p age 11), the F r ont Su rr ound modes will
give the best r esults.
• Press SURROUND repeatedly to select a
listening mode.

Dolby Pro Logic II Music settings
When listening in Dolby P r o Logic II Music
mode, the r e a r e th r ee settings you can adjust:
Cente r Width, Dimension, and Pano r ama.
1 With Dolby Pro Logic II Music mode
active, press SOUND.
2 Use
/
to select ‘C WIDTH’, ‘DIMEN.’ or
‘PANORAMA’ then press ENTER to confirm.

C WIDTH
(Cente r Width) – P r ovides a
bette r blend of the f r ont s p eake r s by
s pr eading the cente r channel between the
f r ont r ight and left s p eake r s, making it
sound wide r (highe r settings) o r na rr owe r
(lowe r settings).
• DIMEN. (Dimension) – Adjusts the de p th
of the su rr ound sound balance f r om f r ont
to back, making the sound mo r e distant
(minus settings), o r mo r e fo r wa r d ( p ositive
settings).

PANORAMA
– Extends the f r ont ste r eo
image to include the su rr ound s p eake r s fo r
a ‘w r a p a r ound’ effect.

1 If the sou r ce is Dolby Digital o r DTS, the co rr es p onding indicato r lights in the f r ont p anel dis p lay.
2 Note that when the tune r is selected, multichannel p layback is not p ossible.
