6.1.1. APX-i2 with IEEE1394 Interface
To connect the APX-i2 to a PC by the IEEE1394 interface, use a commercially
available IEEE1394 standard cable. The connector on the camera processor is 6-pin
type. The connector on the PC side may be 4-pin or 6-pin type depending on the PC
model and/or the interface being used. Use an appropriate cable (not included in the
APX-i2 set).
The IEEE1394 interface cable for the APX-i2 is hot-pluggable as is the case with other
PC peripheral cables.
The APX-i2, after being connected to a PC by an IEEE1394 cable, can be controlled
from the PC by installing driver software in the PC.
For installation of the driver software, see the attached FASTCAM Control Software
Operation Manual, section 2.3.1 (Installation of hardware driver for IEEE1394
interface).

Indication by LED’s
・Green: Power on/Sync in: Lights when power is on. Blinks when external sync input is
present.
・Orange: Link: Lights when linkage is complete and blinks during command/data transfer.
・Yellow: Trigger: Lights when a REC trigger is given.
6.1.2. APX-i2 with Ether Interface
To connect an APX-i2 camera to a PC by the Ether network, use a commercially
available 100BASE-TX cable. Use a UTP cable of CAT5 or higher for network
connection.
The maximum allowable length of the connection cable between a PC and an APX-i2 is
100 meters. Up to 64 units of APX-i2’s can be connected to a PC using a hub. Use a
switching hub that accepts 100BASE-TX connection. For directly connecting an APX-i2
camera to a PC, a cross cable is necessary.
Maximum length of cable allowed between a camera (and PC) and a switching hub is
100 meters.
