Introduction
2.1
What
is
Greenkeeper
Win?
Greenkeeper
Win
is
a
PC
‐
computer
control
system
with
a
sophisticated
third
generation
decoder
system.
By
clicking
a
button,
the
programs
created
on
a
PC
are
sent
within
a
matter
of
seconds
to
the
Valve
Control
Unit.
From
there,
electric
pulses
are
transmitted
via
a
single
2
‐
wire
cable
to
as
many
as
250
decoders
that
energize/deenergize
the
solenoids.
This
enables
you
to
avoid
expensive
installations,
difficult
modifications
or
disruptive
earth
works
during
extensions
as
well
as
all
costs
incurred
thereby.
Assisted
by
your
PC
and
the
Greenkeeper
Win
software
you
create
an
irrigation
program
according
to
your
wishes.
The
program
is
then
downloaded
via
the
serial
port
to
the
VCU.

Functional
description
The
Greenkeeper
Control
System
consists
of
the
following
components
(minimum
configuration):
1.
Valve
Control
Unit
(VCU)
2.
Windows
98/NT/2000/XP
or
Windows
7
‐
compatible
PC
with
a
modem
(optional)
3.
2
‐
wire
decoder
cable
4.
Decoder
The
system
can
control
a
maximum
of
245
decoders.
The
VCU
feeds
the
decoder
with
modulated
direct
current
via
a
2
‐
wire
decoder
cable.
The
modulated
direct
current
carries
signals
that
contain
information
for
the
decoder.
The
information
consists
of:
1.
Decoder
address
2.
Open
or
close
command.
The
brain
of
the
Greenkeeper
Control
System
is
the
PC.
The
Greenkeeper
Win
program
runs
on
the
PC.
The
master
data
for
the
complete
irrigation
equipment
are
entered
during
the
installation.
These
include:
1.
Rated
flow
rate
of
the
pump(s)
in
m³/h
2.
Water
consumption
of
a
single
sprinkler
in
m³/h
3.
Area
watered
by
a
single
sprinkler
in
m²
