Condensation
Be aware that condensation caused by moving your spectrometer from a cooler environment
to a warmer one can damage the windows of the sample compartment. To prevent this
damage from occurring:
•
Make sure that the windows are protected by placing fresh bags of desiccant in the
sample compartment.
•
Leave the spectrometer to reach the temperature of the surroundings before removing
the desiccant.
The Set Temperature utility
A Frontier IR instrument is able to thermostat (that is, control the temperature of) its internal
optical bench. By default, this capability is enabled by the PerkinElmer Service Engineer when
the instrument is installed.
Usually, there is no need for adjustment. However, if the temperature range in your
laboratory changes, or if you move the instrument to another location, it may be necessary
to set a different temperature range to ensure optimal performance.
1.
Browse to the C:\Program Files\PerkinElmer\ServiceIR or C:\Program Files
(x86)\PerkinElmer\ServiceIR directory, and then double-click the
Set Temperature
shortcut.
The PerkinElmer Login dialog is displayed.
2.
Enter your login details.
You must be a Spectrum Administrator.
The Select Instrument dialog is displayed.
3.
Select your instrument and then click
OK
.
The
Set Temperature
dialog is displayed.
4.
Select the setting most appropriate for the range of temperature in your laboratory, and
then click
Apply
.
The
Disabled
setting is not recommended.
The temperature range setting is stored in the instrument, and the utility closes.
NOTE: This setting applies until the Set Temperature Utility is used again. It is not reset
when the instrument power is recycled (that is, switched OFF and then ON).
CAUTION
The ServiceIR folder contains a number of other utilities, many of which
are intended solely for use by a PerkinElmer Service Engineer. If used
incorrectly, some utilities could damage the instrument.
