DP-CL21 provides Remote Maintenance Function to change the settings or get the information of the
printer in/outside LAN (Local Area Network) through the Internet (e-mail). This function is used only for
service purpose.
To enable a maintenance of your printer using the Remote Maintenance Function,
1. Set the printer with TCP/IP in LAN.
(See “Setup Guide” or “Network” section in the Operating Instructions.)
2. Install the Remote Maintenance Setting Tool in a computer to configure the printer.
3. Setup the printer’s Internet mail and turn the Remote Maintenance Function
ON
using the Remote
Maintenance Setting Tool.
About security when using the Remote Maintenance Function
The printer will not respond if the printer receives a different mail from the Remote Maintenance
Function. However, it enables you to use the following functions to avoid the risk that the printer’s
setting is changed or printer’s information is leaked out.
• Turning off the Remote Maintenance Function
It enables you to turn the Remote Maintenance Function
OFF
using the Remote Maintenance Setting
Tool (
see “Function of the Remote Maintenance Setting Tool” on page 234
). The printer does not
respond by turning the function off even if receiving a mail from the Remote Maintenance Function.
• Using the Notify Function
If the Notify Function is turned on, the information (user’s mail address) is sent to the network
administrator (
see “Notify Function” on page 234
) when the printer receives a mail from the Remote
Maintenance Function.
