Rotate the stimulus level control over its full
travel, and check that the amplitude of the stimulus
pulse can be varied continuously and smoothly
between 0 and 300V.
Return the stimulus level to minimum and press
STIM to turn the stimulator output off.
Replace the 3k0 load with the 2k7 load and
monitor across it with the CRO.
Press STIM and gradually increase the stimulus
level to maximum.
Check that when the stimulus intensity setting is
approximately 270V, a “Electrical Stim has
reported a Stim Delivery failure” message is
displayed, and the background to the stim intensity
display turns red..
Return the stimulus level to minimum and press
STIM to turn the stimulator output off.
Replace the 2k7 load with the 3k0 load and
monitor across it with the CRO.
Set the stimulus Output to Current, then click on
OK. Press STIM and gradually increase the
stimulus level to maximum, 100mA.
Check on the CRO for a 300V stim pulse (100mA
x 3k0) of 500µs duration every 33ms.
Rotate the stimulus level control over its full
travel, and check that the amplitude of the stimulus
pulse can be varied continuously and smoothly
between 0 and 300V, (0 - 100mA).
Return the stimulus level to minimum and press
STIM to turn off the stimulator output.
Replace the 3k0 load with the 3k3 load and
monitor across it with the CRO.
Press STIM and gradually increase the stimulus
level to maximum.
Check that when the stim intensity setting is
approximately 90mA, a “Electrical Stim has
reported a Stim Delivery failure” message is
displayed, and the background to the stim intensity
display turns red..
Return the stimulus level to minimum and press
STIM to turn the stimulator output off.
6.13 External Speaker Checks
Set the Signal Generator to give a 10mV pk-pk
100Hz sinewave output. On a 2 Channel headbox,
connect the signal output to the red sockets on the
headbox and the signal ground to the green and
black sockets joined together. On the 5 Channel
headbox, short together all pins (except pin 15) of
the 25 way Remote Jackbox socket on the headbox
and also link to the EMG2+ and EMG2– input
sockets.
Adjust the Headbox gain to give a 2 div sinewave
on the monitor traces.
Select the Acquisition drop-down menu and then
select Setup. Select Audio Setup and then click in
the Audio On/Off box to turn audio on. Select the
External speaker and gradually increase the
Control Panel Volume control.
Check that the 1kHz tone can be heard from the
external loud speaker.
Check that the tone is clear and undistorted.
Vary the Signal Generator frequency from 10Hz to
20kHz and vary the volume. Check that the tone is
clear and undistorted.
Return the Volume control to minimum.
Disconnect the Signal Generator from the
Headbox.
6.14 Footswitch Checks
Plug the footswitch assembly into the ‘
9
’
connector on the Connection unit on the side of the
trolley.
Briefly operate the Acquire footswitch. Check that
the green LED next to the Acquire button on the
Front Panel, flashes briefly.
Check that the active store trace is updated once.
If present, operate the Accept footswitch. If the
footswitch is of the single type, press the NEXT
button on the Front Panel.
Check that the next store trace has been made the
active store.
Operate the Acquire footswitch again, holding it
depressed for >3s. Check that the green LED next
to the Acquire button on the Control Panel,
remains illuminated. Check that the new active
store trace is repeatedly updated
Briefly operate the Acquire footswitch again, and
check that the green LED next to the Acquire
button, turns off. Check that the active store trace
stops updating.
If using the triple footswitch assembly, operate the
programmable footswitch and check for a response
on the display – this depends on how the
footswitch function has been programmed, but
normally results in the monitor or store screen
becoming full screen size. Operate the footswitch
once more to return to the original display.
