When you are testing with ear couplers, the
Binaural
button is shown.
Press this button to test both ears.

Impedance testing and calibration
Electrode impedance testing followed by calibration are performed before the actual
test starts.
All of the indicators for stimulus, forehead and nape impedance, and balance should
preferably be green (see
), but the test can be started
even if the indicators are yellow.
The
Start
button is greyed out until
Stimulus
and
Impedance
values are okay.
Impedance test indicators

The acoustical stimulus is being calibrated.
If the
Impedance
and
Balance
values are
OK
(green), press the
Start
button to start the test.
(Depending on how your device is configured, the test may start automatically if the indicators
are green or yellow.)
Red (nape)
The
Red
reading indicates the sum of the
Red
and the
Black
(common or ground) electrodes’
skin impedances.
White (high on the forehead)
The
White
reading indicates the sum of the
White
and the
Black
(common or ground) elec-
trodes’ skin impedances.
Colour coding
Green
Less than 4 k
Ω
: Good
Yellow
4 to 12 k
Ω
: Fair
