9.5 MISCELLANEOUS PROBLEMS
The following guide lists some malfunctions which may occur, the symptoms and the
corrective actions. If the Keratron
®
Scout system remains inoperative even after
performing the corrective actions indicated below, contact Optikon 2000 S.p.A.
sales/service department.

A.C. Powered Units
Keratron
®
Scout completely inoperative.
a. The Docking Base a.c. power cord not connected.
Connect power cord to control console and the
power source. (See § 6.3.1)
b. A.C. line fuse blown. Replace the line fuse.
c. The Slit Lamp Cable has been not properly inserted
or Keratron
®
Scout side or Docking Base side.
Insert the cable properly on both sides.
Battery Powered Units
Keratron
®
Scout completely inoperative.
a. The Battery Pack is not properly inserted. Test the
insertion of Battery Pack. (See § 6.3.2)
b. The Battery Pack is exausted. Recharge it.
Acquisition and Processing Images
The acquired image is broken into
horizontal blocks.
a. Check whether the Scout.exe and Tstscout.exe
have been run at the same time (look at the
Windows ToolBar).
b. Check the presence of resident software that could
interfere with USB port. Check the icons in
Windows Toolbar (bottom right side) and de-
activate them.
The map colors are not uniform, they
sometimes change or they look dithered
(“strange” colors).
Check the “screen” settings, if they were 256. Keratron
®
Scout requires a “True Color” mode, either 16, 24 or 32
bit.
The VK is not detected when in
acquisition mode or when attempting to.
a. Check that the docking-base is ON and that the VK
is power supplied (LEDs OD/OS blinking
alternatively).
b. Check that the USB Cable between Docking Base
and PC is inserted.
c. Check the cable between the docking-base and the
VK.
