It is very important that the patient opens BOTH eyes VERY WIDE, to avoid typical
eyelashes
artefacts
(see the last page in this manual). If the eyelashes shadows reach the horizontal line passing
through the centre in the picture, they can fool the detection system and you will get a map with
abnormally high curvatures. In case of doubt take more than one photo and check for repeatability. If
necessary help the eye aperture with your fingers and re-instruct the patient to open widely.

:
Do not waste time to align perfectly the cross within circles. Even a 4-5 rings error generates an error
lower than 0.1 D. It is more important that eyes are wide open.

If the tear film is bad, ask the patient to blink. If any dust or grime doesn’t go away, ask him to gently
rub his eyelids.
