If the network to which the fax machine is con-
nected has more than one socket connected
in series, you must connect the fax machine
to the primary socket.
Connecting the Telephone/Answering
Machine...
1. Plug the telephone cord or the answering ma-
chine cord into the socket on the extension plug.
In some countries telephone, answering ma-
chines or other equipment can be connected via
sockets TEL1 and TEL2 located at the back left-hand
side of the fax machine (covered by tear-off flaps).
For further information refer to the standards in force
in your country.
If the network to which the fax machine is con-

in series, you must use an approved model
of telephone.
CONNECTING TO THE ELECTRICAL POWER
SUPPLY AND TELEPHONE LINE ...
Connecting to the electrical power supply ...
1. Plug the power cord into the wall power socket.
The fax machine automatically performs a quick
self-test procedure to check that its components
operate properly, the display will then show the mes-
sage "AUTOMATIC RX" in the upper line and, alter-
nately, the messages "ADD PAPER" and "CHECK
PRINT HEAD" in the lower line.
The fax machine will be connected permanently,
ready to receive and transmit documents 24 hours
a day.
If you want to switch it off, you must unplug the
power cable from the electrical power supply as
the fax machine does not have an on-off switch.
If by accident, the displayed messages are not
written in the language of your country, select the
desired "LANGUAGE" among those available, by
pressing in sequence the following keys:
FUNCTION (eight times), START, FUNC-
TION, START, </> until you select the desired
language and then START.
Connecting the Fax Machine ...
The connection between the fax machine and the
telephone line should be made using the cord pro-
vided. Do not use other cords, otherwise the fax ma-
chine may not work properly.
1. Insert the miniature connector (which is small and
transparent) of the telephone line connection cord
into the "LINE" socket on the fax machine. You
will hear a click which indicates that it has been
inserted correctly.
2. Insert the extension plug at the other end of the cord
into the telephone line wall socket.
