After a job is printed, the spool system queries the printer for the number of printed pages.
When accounting is turned on, the system saves a data record for every job to the account-
ing file you specify in this dialog box. If the accounting file does not exist, it is created by the
spool system. The record contains the job ID, data from the job ticket, the number of printed
pages and the final job status (canceled or printed).
The accounting file is an ASCII text file. The first line contains the field names, followed by
a line of data for each job. The fields are separated by '
|
' characters.
The accounting file contains more specific preflight information in case of PCL files. This
information is gathered during the spool in process; once the job is output, the information
is stored in the accounting file. As the different page counts are gathered during preflight,
they are valuable only for the complete job and not for any partial print.
Several count pages are available:
Separate count pages with media sizes
A new column (label: Media size) contains separate counts for paper of different sizes as
list of (x,y) separated by ";" where x is the paper type number as described in PCL specifi-
cations and y the number of pages to be printed on that paper.
Separate count pages with color
A new column (label: B/W-color) provides different counters for B/W pages and for color
pages. Color detection means in fact detection of the use of PCL statement "Esc*v#S "
where # is the color station used; this statement is generated by the Windows Printer Driver
only (for VP5000 / VS9000) so basically, color detection is used for data prepared for such
printers. The used format is x - y with x the amount of B/W pages and y the amount of color
pages.
Simplex / Duplex / Mixed indicator
A new column (label: Print Mode) indicates if the job uses simplex mode, duplex mode or
a mix. (Values: Duplex/Simplex/Mixplex)
