Version 3.0
The MX 500 does not process the TALKER identifier (first two charac-
ters following the $ of NMEA 0183 sentences) for any NMEA sentences
received. Any pair of characters within the NMEA specification are rec-
ognized.
The MX 500 does process floating numerical formats in the received
sentences.
Although the current version of the NMEA 0183 standard requires that a
checksum be present, the checksum is not required by the MX 500.
However, if the checksum is included in the NMEA sentence, the MX
500 will reject any sentence where the checksum and data do not corre-
late.
Viewing Input Data
You can view data being sent to the MX 500 by other equipment or
loop a MX 500 output port back to an unused input port to verify if it is
outputting data to other equipment. This is a great tool to use when
you are first interfacing equipment.
