Readme files  

Readme files are provided in the following locations on the SU CD-ROM or in the  
PEP, as follows:  

•

  In the root directory on the PEP CD-ROM 

This readme file provides a general description of the PEP packages and general install and 
uninstall instructions.  

•

  In each PEP package folder 

These readme files provide a list of all the PEPs in that package, and specific install and 
uninstall instructions.  

•

  In each PEP folder 

These readme files describe the purpose of the PEP and can provide some installation 
instructions.  

Installing PEP Packages

For specific PEP installation instructions, refer to the readme files that 
are provided with the PEP. In many cases, PEPs must be uninstalled 
and installed in a specific order. The readme files provide these 
instructions. When the readme files instruct you to uninstall or install 
PEPs, refer to the procedures in this section.

ATTENTION

 

If your HMS 400 system is up and running, Nortel Networks 
recommends that you perform a system backup. 
 

For instructions, refer to the Backup and Restore chapter in this 
document. 

 

To install a PEP package from a PEP CD 

1.  Shutdown HMS 400; Refer to “NN42350-301 HMS 400 Installation and Configuration Guide: 

Chapter 7 – Stopping the System” on Page 103. 

2.  Insert the HMS 400 PEP CD-Rom into the CD Rom drive.   

3.  Click Start -> Run  

Result: The Run dialog box opens

 

4.  Click Browse        

Result: The browse dialog box opens

 

5.  Navigate to the CD-Rom drive or to the location (Temp folder) where PEPs are being 

downloaded. 

6.  Open and review the readme files that are in the root directory for specific installation 

instructions. 

7.  Double click the runme.exe file and then click OK.
