XT V 160 X-ray System
The radiation survey must only be carried out by qualified personnel.
The survey should be performed with the equipment running (with the
imaging switched off) at maximum power with and without an
aluminium scatter block with the beam defocused to prevent damage
to the X-ray source.
6.2.8
Cleaning
Clean paint surfaces using a damp cloth and soap/mild detergent.
Do not use acetone or other chemical cleaners.
When cleaning the system, ensure that it is switched off, and that you
use only a cloth dampened with water.
6.2.9
Environmental considerations
In the event of a backing pump fault, oil mist or fumes may be emitted.
Do not breathe these fumes. Shut down the system immediately and
contact Nikon Metrology.
No dangerous chemicals are used by the system to produce X-rays. For the purposes of
re-use and recycling of the system at the end of its useful life, the following information may
be useful:
•
Cabinets and the control consoles are made from either sheet steel or aluminium panels.
•
Lead is used throughout the whole cabinet to shield the user from X-rays.
•
Various electronic units and subsystems are used, including the motion control modules,
computers and monitors. These should be disposed of in accordance with local
procedures.
•
On some X-ray target assemblies, there may be a small quantity of beryllium used which
acts as a transparent X-ray window. In the absence of local facilities for the disposal of
beryllium, the X-ray target assembly may be returned to Nikon Metrology.
•
Cooling systems contain a water-based coolant or mineral oil. Vacuum backing pumps
also contain mineral oil. Disposal of any fluids should be in accordance with local
regulations.
