XT V 160 X-ray System
To centralise the filament, follow these steps:
1. Using a 2.5 mm hex key, loosen the filament clamp screws about 90 degrees so that the
filament holder is stiff when you try to move it with a tool (the spring washers should still
be applying pressure).
The filament holder is fixed to the focus cup by two
stainless steel screws, each with one spring washer and
one or two plain washers. It should not be necessary to
completely remove them to change the filament.
You must use the same length and type for all screws and washers if
they are replaced. Use stainless steel screws.
The focus cup is a very important component and must be handled
with care.
2. Insert a thin bladed screwdriver into the gap between the focus cup and the filament
holder and lever the filament holder to centralise the filament.
You must check the filament alignment in good light so that it can be easily seen.
Misalignment by as little as 0.1 mm will adversely affect the performance of the system.
3. Be patient when adjusting the position of the filament and check its position within the
centre hole in the focus cup insert.
4. When checking the position of the filament, either view it directly or use a magnifying
glass (provided in the spares kit) or microscope. When using a magnifying glass or
