Total Station NPL-322 Instruction Manual
Setting the Measurement Mode and Preparing the Target
The NPL-322 has two measurement modes: Prism mode (
Prism
) and Reflectorless
mode (
N-Prism
). These modes can be changed at any time by holding down the
[MSR1]
or
[MSR2]
key for one second. For more information, see

To set the measurement mode depending on the target you want to measure, see the
following table.
In some cases, you can measure another target that is not appropriate to the set
measurement mode.
Note –
The NPL-322 is Laser Class 1 in the measurement function, and Laser Class 2
in the Laser pointer function.

t sight the Prism when the Laser Pointer is on.
Measurement with a prism
Do not use a prism with scratches, a dirty surface, or a chipped center. Prisms with
thin edges are recommended.
As the NPL-322 is extremely sensitive, multiple reflections on the prism surface can
sometimes cause a significant loss in accuracy.
To maintain the accuracy of your measurements:
