Phase sync (
SYSTEM
:
φ
SYNC)
Operation is described for restarting the CH1 and CH2 output waveforms from a set phase so as to clarify
the phase relationship.
Phase sync is used when the channel mode is INDEP or operation of multiple units is synchronized using
φ
-SYNC IN/OUT (1991 synchronized operation option).
When the channel mode is changed, phase sync is processed automatically.
CH1 and CH2 waveform outputs in the INDEP channel mode when the phase is synchronized
(CH1 is 0 deg. and CH2 is 90 deg.)
Operation:
①
Press the
SYSTEM
key, then use the
and
keys to produce the following display
(
φ
SYNC flashes).

②
Press the
ENTER
key to engage phase synchronization.
Other:
• A slight time difference remains between channels after phase sync when
φ
SYNC is conducted.
This time difference is about 3 ns and specific to each product.
Use either of the following methods to compensate for the time difference:
1. For applications that are used at certain frequencies only, it is easier to compensate by
adjusting any of the channel phases.
2. For applications that are used while frequencies change, compensating by adjusting the
length of signal cable is effective.
A delay of about 5 ns occurs for each 1 m of the coaxial cable. At this point, proper
termination with 50
Ω
is required. The delay cannot be adjusted if updating affects the
delay.
