Check with your phone company to see if you must add 1+area code to the dialed number in
order to make a 64 Kbps connection.

If you receive an “LCP closed” message immediately following the password authentication
step, verify the following parameters in the FirstGear ISP Setup window:

Login name
–
Password
Troubleshooting Multilink Connections
To troubleshoot an ISP connection, use the Multilink setup section in FirstGear’s Advanced
Options Menu to select “Always use both channels.” Save the settings, then use the Back button to
move to the ISP Connection Test window. Click the ISP Test button to run the test. Because the
ISP test is designed for a single channel connection, it will report that the test failed when
Multilink is used. Examine the displayed trace to determine if the Multilink connection was
successful.
