The guidance
(28 Solid timber roof)
Important! All screw connections must be pre-drilled!!!
1.
Lay out the joist as in the drawing and firmly attach to the
ground. Lay the joist evenly and at right angles!
2.
Begin with the front half boards and rear wall half boards. During
pre-drilling, screw the half boards with spax-screws to the joists.
Stack the rear wall, lateral wall and front boards. Screw down
each board in the corners of the house with spax-screws (see
detail photo). With different front widths for the house, you
can then decide where to install the door. This ndepends on
whether you install the narrow front at the left or right.
3.
Set on the inferior purlins and attach with screws.
If you do not wish to have the roof attachment on
your house, you must now saw away the unnecessary part of
the front inferior purlins.
Set on the gables and attach with screws as shown in the detail.
4.
Set on the gables and attach with screws as shown in the detail.
5.
Set the purlins (P) into the recesses of the gables.
If you do not wish to have the roof attachment on your house:
The external ridge purlin must now be cut to the same width as
inside the house. For this, bring the small ridge board laterally
up to the ridge purlin.
6.
Bring up the roof boarding. Begin at the front, flush with the ridge
purlin. The first board points with the groove side towards the
front. The roof boarding is nailed down to the purlins and the
gables.
TIP: After bringing up the first board to the front,
as an aid for assembling bring up the last board at the rear and
stretch a rope between the two, along the middle of the roof. You
can then align the remaining roofing boards to this rope. This
ensures that the roof is installed straight.
Saw away the overhang of the last board to the ridge purlin or
saw away the overhang of the purlins away, flush with the roof
boarding.
7.
7.1
Attach the soffits.
7.2
Screw down the nail battens from below to the roof boarding.
The nail battens must be attached over the entire length of the
roof. Prior to this, attach the fascia boards with screws from the
side.
Now lay the roof felt.
7.3
Install the soffit covering from above, lying over the soffits.
Visually, it is advantageous to have an overhang of around 1cm
towards the front.
8.
Lay the floor boards. Join the boards with two nails each to the
joists.
Saw the last board to match.
9.
Since the inferior purlins consist of a front and a rear board, joint
a results between the two parts. Cover this over from inside with
the inferior purlin covering: simply screw down over the middle
of the joint with a total of eight spax-screws.
Finally, attach the lowermost board of each wall with screws to
the floor/joist from outside.
You can now attach the floor bordering.
