NTRODUCTION1
The NEC SL1100 system supports IP extensions. These telephones have
the same look and functionality as typical multiline telephones, but they
are connected to the CPU via IP rather than by a hardwired connection to
a station card.
The following terminal is supported.

ONVERSION
When an IP telephone calls a DR300 multiline telephone, single line
telephone or trunk, the speech must be converted from IP to TDM (Time
Division Multiplexing) technology. The VoIPDB daughter board provides
this function.
It is possible for DR700 IP Phones to talk directly to other DR700 IP
Phones without using a VoIP DSP resource. For more information, refer to
Section 4 Peer-to-Peer on page 9-6
1.
The voice quality of VoIP is dependent on variables such as available bandwidth, network latency and
Quality of Service (QoS) initiatives, all of which are controlled by the network and Internet Service Pro-
viders. Because these variables are not in NEC control, it cannot guarantee the performance of the
user’s IP-based remote voice solution. Therefore, NEC recommends connecting VoIP equipment
through a local area network using a Private IP address.
