Chapter 2 Preparations

Important Use of external USB devices

If you connect an external USB DVD-ROM drive to a USB connector at the
front of the server, do not connect any other device to the adjacent USB port.

* The ports in a box in the images below are “adjacent USB ports”.

Note the following precautions to connect cables

•

Turn off the server and peripheral devices to be connected before connecting.

•

If connecting any peripheral device and its interface cable made by other companies (a third party),

contact your sales representative to check if they can be used with the server beforehand.

•

Fix the power cord or interface cable with cable ties so that it does not touch the rack door or side guide

rail.

•

Make sure that no pressure is applied on the plug of power cord.

•

A leased line cannot be directly connected to the serial port connector. If you connect a card to a line, use

the card which you have applied for with the certification authority.

•

The connectors that are not described in this section are unused connectors. Do not connect them all.
