Chapter 9: Removing the Print Mechanism
September 1998
103
If you are removing the MICR amplifier board because of a failure, read the following
information. If you are removing the MICR amplifier board in order to remove or replace
another item, go directly to step 1. Be sure to read the Caution first.
Do not replace the MICR amplifier board if it has failed or if the older LCSIO (RS-485) PC
board has failed. Order the common PC board to replace both the MICR amplifier board
and the older LCSIO (RS-485) PC board.
After the MICR amplifier board has been removed, you must use three extender cables
(available in a kit) to connect the following three cables to the common PC board:
•
MICR Read Head Cable
•
MICR Buckhead Cable
•
MICR Solenoid Cable
Note:
In addition, a longer cable for the front LED sensor is included in the kit to replace
the current cable which is not long enough to connect to the new common PC board.
See “Appendix C: Common PC Board” for more information about the extender cables. See
the Parts Information Manual for the kit number.
Caution:
Electro Static Discharge may damage the MICR amplifier board. Wear a
grounded wrist strap and use a static mat or other ESD protected work surface whenever
you work with the MICR amplifier board.
Note:
The MICR amplifier board is only on older LCSIO (RS-485) models.
1.
Disconnect the MICR assembly connections to the MICR amplifier board.
The connections to the MICR amplifier board are not marked, but are keyed for
reconnection.
2.
Deflect the MICR amplifier board forward and to the right and pull it out of the
printer.
