8.14.13 Coolant expansion tank valve cover – Replacement

Preconditions

☑

Engine is stopped and starting disabled.

WARNING

Coolant is hot and under pressure.
Risk of injury and scalding!
• Let the engine cool down.
• Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles / safety mask.

Preparatory steps

u

Switch off preheater.

Replacing valve cover

Note:

Schematic diagram. Design may deviate.

1.

Turn valve cover (1) on coolant expansion
tank counterclockwise until the first stop and
release pressure.

2.

Continue to turn valve cover counterclock-
wise and remove.

3.

Remove chain with screw (4) and washer (3).

4.

Draw off separated corrosion inhibitor oil in
expansion tank via filler neck (2).

5.

Fit new valve cover and close it.

6.

Install chain.
