6.0 CALIBRATION
6.1 Overview
The importance of accurate calibration cannot be overstated. The data collected during the calibration
process will determine the final operating accuracy of the instrument.
Calibration consists of observing a properly installed
Humi
Core
™
Pro
operating under actual process
conditions.
The
Humi
Core
Pro
detects the moisture content as the particulates move past the sensor. The
Humi
Core
Pro
assigns this detection a raw measurement number. The calibration process involves associating the
raw number to a known moisture content percentage. This association establishes a calibration point. A
set of calibration points establishes a calibration profile. The
Humi
Core
Pro
system can facilitate a cali-
bration profile of up to five calibration points. A typical calibration will involve just two calibration points; min
and max moisture levels. In some demanding applications where additional intermediary points might be
needed, up to five calibration points can be recorded to create the profile.
Calibration Technique: Commissioning, or calibration, involves only a few steps but each is quite important:
- Begin with a completely installed and fully operational
Humi
Core
™
Pro
system.
- Operate the conveying system while exposing the
Humi
Core
sensor to material that contains the
minimum moisture. Record the
Humi
Core
“raw” measurement value.
- Immediately acquire a sample of this material and make moisture measurement utilizing end user’s
established in-house moisture measuring process.
- By use of the included
Humi
Core
Configuration software, associate the
Humi
Core
“raw” measure-
ment value with the measured moisture content. This creates a calibration point.
- Operate the conveying system while exposing the
Humi
Core
sensor to material that contains the
maximum moisture. Record the
Humi
Core
“raw” measurement value.
- Immediately acquire a sample of this material and make moisture measurement utilizing end user’s
established in-house moisture measuring apparatus.
- By use of the included
Humi
Core
Configuration software, associate the
Humi
Core
“raw” measure-
ment value with the measured moisture content. This creates a calibration point.
- In the event the moisture content is known to be non-linear between the min and max levels, ad-
ditional intermediary (up to five total) calibration points can be recorded by the
Humi
Core
Pro
system. The more calibration points the greater the
Humi
Core
moisture measuring accuracy.
