To Prime the Fuel System:
1. Turn the ignition key on. Do not attempt to start the engine.
2. Remove the dust cap from the Schrader valve. Press and
hold the Prime button while holding the Schrader valve
open with finger or object. Hold Prime button until filter is
full. Stand clear as fuel may spray from Schrader valve.
3. After the fuel purges from Schrader valve, release the valve. Continue to hold the Prime
button one additional minute. This should allow the engine to start.
4. Install the dust cap to the Schrader valve. Start and operate the engine at high idle for about
three minutes. If the engine fails to readily start, initiate one or two additional purge
cycles.
NOTE:
The engine may run rough for a short period until all remaining air is forced
through the fuel system.
NOTE:
It is normal for the pre-filter bowl not to be full of fuel while the engine is run-
ning.
Water in Fuel (H
2
O) Light:
If the
Water in Fuel
light illuminates on the dash, the primary fil-
ter has detected water in the fuel. Do Not continue engine operation
as fuel contaminated with water can damage fuel injectors. Water is
heavier than fuel. A discharge line is located at the bottom of the pri-
mary filter. Purge water from the filter using the
H2O purge
button
on the filter control panel. Contaminated fuel will purge from the
bottom of the filter into a holding bottle located below the engine on
the curbside.
To Remove Water from the Filter:
1. Turn the ignition key
on
. Do not start the engine. The drain indicator lamp on the filter
control panel should illuminate when the
Drain
button is pressed. The electronics in the
control panel will not allow the system to drain if the system has not detected water.
2. Press and hold the
Drain
button. The system will purge water from the filter into the stor-
age container located in the curbside engine compartment. Change the fuel filter at the
earliest convenience. Empty the storage container at the same time.
NOTE:
The Drain Water function will operate only when water is detected in the primary fuel
filter.
NOTE:
Always carry an extra Racor element as one tank full of excessively contaminated
diesel fuel can plug a filter.
