Conversion of the Binary Data Format
For conversion purposes the H-Byte, M-Byte and L-Byte must be identified on the basis of the two first bits
(flag bits), the flag bits deleted and the remaining bits compiled into a 16 or 18 bit data word.
Result of conversion:
D17 D16 D15 D14 D13 D12 D11 D10 D9 D8 D7 D6 D5 D4 D3 D2 D1 D0
Conversion must be done in the application program. D16 and D17 are among others used for interpretation
of error codes or e.g. for the measurement counter.

The sensor continues to deliver measurement values to the RS422 output even while communicating
with the sensor.
For the data transmission with a PC the MICRO-EPSILON IF2008 PCI BUS interface card is suitable. This can
be connected to the sensor via the PCF1420-x/IF2008 interface cable, which is also available as an option.
The IF2008 combines the three bytes for the data word and saves them in the FIFO. The 18 bits are used
for measurement values and error values. As standard, the IF2008 interface card is suitable for connecting
two or (via a Y intermediate cable available as an option) up to four sensors plus two additional incremental
encoders. For further information, please refer to the descriptions of the IF2008 interface card and associated
MEDAQlib driver program.
