Power on the Platform
When the RS-232 serial cable has been connected between the PC and the KS8695P Platform
and the Hyper Terminal has been opened and configured as shown in Figure
13
,
plug in the 5V
AC/DC adapter to power on the KS8695P platform. Normally the Hyper Terminal window will
display as shown in Figure
14.

7.2.4
Simple to Evaluate the Performance for 100% Transfer Rate
Under this ‘=>’ display prompt symbol, to connect the one port of the KSZ8841PMQL or
KSZ8842PMQL to one port of the Smartbit tester, and send packet with 100% utilization from
Smartbit to the port of the KSZ884x-PMQL. The packets will be received by CPU (KS8695P
contains Arm CPU), and then the CPU transmits the packets to Smartbit via the PCI bus of the
KSZ884xPMQL device. The figure 15 and figure 16 shows the test result at 64Byte packet size
and 1518Byte packet size, the performance reach to 100% transfer rate at full wire speed as
shown in the both figures.
By the way, due to the higher transfer rate is related with how many software codes to be
involved for transmit/receive. In a real application, higher system clock will be recommended for
high level application to meet the system requirements and higher throughput rate requirements,
for example, video over IP, etc.
