Appendix A – Remote Control
Remote Control function is intended for distance control of the instrument MI 3205
TeraOhm XA 5kV via RS232, USB or Bluetooth (optional) communication.
Keypad Driving
All functionalities of the keypad can be driven via Remote Control communication.
Table A.1 shows the appropriate syntax to control the instrument keys. When the
command is received by the instrument it is send back as acknowledge.
Keypad Syntax
Meaning
START / STOP
~KEY;START
Start or stop measurement.
ON / OFF
~KEY;OFF
Switches the instrument power off.
MEM
~KEY;MEM
Store / recall / clear tests in memory
of the instrument.
SELECT
~KEY;SELECT
To enter set-up mode for the
selected function or to select the
active parameter to be set.
~KEY;UP
Select an option upward, downward.
~KEY;DOWN
Select an option upward, downward.
~KEY;LEFT
Decrease, increase the selected
parameter.
~KEY;RIGHT
Decrease, increase the selected
parameter.
ESC
~KEY;ESC
Exit the selected mode.

Turn the display backlight ON or
OFF.

Test Driving
All stored Custom tests can be run by Remote Control communication. Table A.2 shows
the appropriate syntax to start a Custom test. When the command is received by the
instrument it is send back as acknowledge.
