3.4 Extinguishing the Pistol
When finished spraying, follow the procedure below to correctly extinguish the pistol:
At the end of the spraying session, to extinguish the flame turn the pistol valve to the
OFF
position (180° anti-clockwise in a single smooth movement) but hold the wire
feed trigger for approximately 1 second longer.
If the pistol is not going to be used for a period of time the gas must be switched off and
the hoses drained.
Shut off the gas and oxygen at the supply points.
Open the pistol valve to allow the lines to empty. Observe that the flowmeter floats
both fall to the bottom of the tubes.
Allow 15 seconds, and then shut off the air at the supply point.
ONLY
when these steps have been completed should the extraction system be turned
off.
Remove the wire from the pistol, taking care to secure the leading end of the coil of
wire, and replace identification labels.
Leave the pistol valve open to avoid damaging the internal diaphragms.
WARNING
: When operating with the 3/16” Continuous Spray – High Throughput Nozzle
System, damage may occur to the nozzle parts unless the flame is extinguished by closing the
valve
PRIOR
to stopping the wire
.
3.5 Emergency Shut-Off Valve
In the event of the Emergency Shut-Off Valve being used, the following procedure should be
followed:
Immediately isolate all supplies.
Ensure that the Extraction System is on.
Check that the operating area is safe.
Re-open the Safety Valve.
The lines will purge.
Identify any fault that has required the Shut-Off Valve to be closed and remedy as
necessary.
Follow the “Starting to Spray Procedure” – Section 3.2 to begin spraying.
Do not shut the extraction down if gas is still present in the system.
