Engaging and disengaging the differ-
ential lock
The differential lock improves the traction of the
vehicle.
The vehicle has a differential lock for the rear
axle. This controls compensation between the
wheels on the rear axle.
G
WARNING
If you engage the differential locks when driv-
ing on a firm, high-traction surface, the steer-
ability of the vehicle is severely impaired. You
could lose control of the vehicle, especially
when activating on a bend. There is a risk of an
accident.
Disengage the differential locks immediately
on a firm, high-traction surface.
G
WARNING
ABS and ESP
®
are deactivated when the dif-
ferential lock is engaged. Because of this, the
wheels can lock while braking and the braking
distance is increased. There is a risk of an
accident.
Disengage the differential lock immediately
when driving on a firm, high-traction surface.
