Optimum use of THERMOTRONIC
automatic climate control
Below, you can find a number of notes and rec-
ommendations to help you use climate control
optimally.
R
Activate climate control using the
Ã
rocker switch. The indicator lamp above the
Ã
rocker switch lights up.
R
Set the temperature to 22 †.
R
Only use the windscreen demisting function
briefly until the windscreen is clear again.
R
Only use air-recirculation mode briefly, e.g. if
there are unpleasant outside odours or when
in a tunnel. The windows could otherwise mist
up as no fresh air is drawn into the vehicle in
air-recirculation mode.
Approximately 60 minutes after parking the
vehicle, THERMOTRONIC automatic climate
control can switch on automatically, depending
on the outside temperature. The vehicle is then
ventilated for about 30 minutes at low fan set-
ting and THERMOTRONIC automatic climate
control is dried out.
During automatic engine switch-off, the climate
control system only operates at a reduced capa-
city. Further information on the automatic
engine switch-off can be found under "ECO
start/stop function" (
Y
page 175).

Activating/deactivating climate con-
trol
Important safety notes
If climate control is switched off, the air supply
and air circulation are also switched off. Only
use this setting for a brief period. Otherwise, the
windows could mist up.
For vehicles with THERMOTRONIC automatic
climate control, switch on climate control pri-
marily using the
Ã
rocker switch
(
Y
page 149).
Switch on climate control primarily using the
Ã
rocker switch (

Activating/deactivating the cooling
with air dehumidification function
Important safety notes
The "Cooling with air dehumidification" function
of the air conditioning or automatic climate con-
trol is only available when the engine is running.
The air inside the vehicle is cooled and dehu-
midified according to the temperature selected.
Condensation may appear on the underside of
the vehicle when in cooling mode. This is normal
and not a sign that there is a malfunction.
If you switch off the "Cooling with air dehumid-
ification" function, the air inside the vehicle will
not be cooled (in warm weather) or dehumidi-
fied. Therefore, only switch off the "Cooling with
air dehumidification" function briefly. Other-
wise, the windows will mist up more quickly.
