Do not use your mobile phone or any other personal communication devices (f. ex. CB radio) when
operating the wheelchair.
The wheelchair is not adjusted to be used in road traffic.
Do not use the wheelchair outside when it's raining or snowing, when the temperature is too high (it
exceeds 30°C) or too low (below 0°C).
Do not drive the wheelchair on quaysides, on river banks of lake shores, which have not been secured.
The wheelchair is not adjusted to be used off-road (dirt roads).
It is not recommended to use the wheelchair outside at night.
When moving backwards, make sure that there are no obstacles or objects behind you. For safety
reasons, the reverse speed should be limited to minimal value.
Avoid sudden stops, turns and making U-turns, as they can lead to fall and injury.
When operating the wheelchair, keep your forearms on arm-rests, and keep your feet on foot-rests.
Do not stand up when operating the wheelchair. Do not lean out to the sides, do not lift any objects from
the ground.
Do not approach any elevations (steps, curbs) with height exceeding 4.5 cm.
The wheelchair is not adjusted to move on stairs. Always use wheelchair ramps or lifts.
The wheelchair is not adjusted to overcome any cracks in the ground that are wider than 10 cm.
SAFETY MEASURES
INFLUENCE OF ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES
Electric-powered wheelchair may be susceptible to the activity of electromagnetic interference (EMI), which
occurs as a result of overlaying electromagnetic waves emitted by various sources, such as radio stations and
TV stations, CB radio, short-wave radios and mobile phones. The impact of electromagnetic waves may cause
damage or impaired functioning of brakes in the wheelchair, its spontaneous movement or movement in an
unintentional direction. This may also lead to damage of the electronic control system.
The force of the electromagnetic influence (EM) is measured in V/m. Each wheelchair has a determined level of
EM tolerance known as the LEVEL OF RESISTANCE. Higher level of resistance equals higher safety level. Current
technologies enable to ensure resistance on the level reaching 20 V/m, which guarantees protection against
the influence of electromagnetic waves.
By following several simple principles stated below, the user may avoid all the situations described above
(damage of the wheelchair, its spontaneous movement), which could lead to serious personal injury.
1.
Do not activate any personal communication systems (CB radio, mobile phone) when the wheelchair is
turned on.
2.
Avoid moving the wheelchair near transmitting stations (both radio and TV transmitters), transmission
towers.
3.
In case when the wheelchair should move spontaneously or move towards an unintentional direction,
turn off the power supply as fast as possible, only if this operation does not pose a threat to your life.
4.
Do not add any new equipment to the wheelchair and do not try to modify the wheelchair individually,
without consulting the distributor, as this may affect the level of electromagnetic resistance of the
wheelchair.
5.
All of the above-mentioned incidents related with the influence of electromagnetic waves should be
reported directly to the distributor, and it is important to give the location of the nearest source emitting
electromagnetic waves.
