5.2.3.
Cleaning of the heat exchanger
Halfway through the winter,
but especially in the spring,
you will
need to clean the air spaces where discharge smoke passes.
This cleaning
must
be done in order to remove all combustion residues
before time and humidity let them harden and make them difficult to
remove.
When the unit is cool, open the fire door and extract the ash drawer
and grate. Then loosen the three screws located just above the fire
mouth to remove the bracket that holds the internal Alutec refractory
parts. Gently remove the sides and then the back.
When removing the refractory parts, be careful not to
let them hit each other as they may chip or break. Put
them in a safe place until it is time to re-install them.
As soon as the refractory material back is removed, you will notice that
the steel back has openings where smoke normally passes. Insert a
bottle brush (preferable iron) in all of the openings and scrape the walls
of the fire box so that the ashes fall into the part below where the
inspection panels are located.
Loosen the bolts and open the inspection panels located under the ash
drawer. With a vacuum cleaner attachment, remove all the ash and
soot from the heat exchanger, again using a brush and the attachment.
Put everything back in place by performing the above steps in reverse
order.
5.2.4.
Cleaning of smoke duct and connection
When the unit is extracted, on the left it is possible to work on the
smoke intake volute
(1)
for cleaning and maintenance. To perform this
maintenance, you will need to remove the smoke intake fan.
On the outlet of the volute there is a gasket
(3)
that seals the
connection with the smoke connection
(2)
. Always check the condition
of this gasket and replace it as needed. The gasket can also be
adjusted using a screw. You can turn the screw to increase or decrease
the pressure on the connection.
At the rear of the unit, at the volute outlet, there is the smoke
connection with its ash collection compartment
(4)
. Also clean this
compartment with a vacuum cleaner, inserting the attachment in the
insertion hole of the volute.
Clean the smoke discharge system, especially in the area of the
connectors, curves and any horizontal stretches of pipe. For information
on cleaning the flue pipe, contact a professional chimney sweep.
WARNING:
The frequency with which the smoke discharge
system is cleaned should be determined based on the
type of use that is made of the product and the type
of installation.
5.2.5.
Other checks
All seal gaskets installed on components subject to maintenance
(smoke intake fan, inspection panels, etc.) must be replaced when
those parts are removed for maintenance. Check the seal of the
