At a Glance - Rear Cabin

Quick reference

Selection of a different Audio or Video 
operation mode on one of the rear cabin 
control units also changes the other rear 
cabin control unit to this mode. The front 
cabin control unit changes to the Audio 
or Video main menu respectively (if so 
equipped), and 

Rear sound active 

is in-

dicated in the display’s status bar.

Navigation, Service, and Telephone op-
eration are excluded from this functional 
process, they remain active if another op-
eration mode is selected on another con-
trol unit, as in these operation modes 
Audio and Video sources always remain 
background-active.

When selecting operation modes Tele-
phone, Service, or Navigation from the 
rear cabin, they are executed by the 
front cabin control unit. Therefore, 
when activating these functions from 
the rear cabin, the front cabin control 
unit changes to the corresponding oper-
ation mode. The activated operation 
mode can thus be controlled from the 
front cabin control unit as well as from 
the rear cabin control units.

Vehicles with partition

Partition closed

Front cabin control unit and rear cabin 
control units can be controlled separate-
ly. Only for operation modes Telephone, 
Service, or Navigation can the front cabin 
control unit be accessed by a rear cabin 
control unit.

Partition open

COMAND functions identically as in a ve-
hicle without partition.

When opening the glass panel, the front 
cabin control unit adapts the Audio or 
Video (if so equipped) operation mode 
selected on a rear cabin control unit.

When selecting another Audio or Video 
operation mode on a rear cabin control 
unit the other rear cabin control unit also 
changes to this mode. The front cabin 
control unit changes to the Audio or Vid-
eo main menu respectively (if so 
equipped), 

Rear sound active 

is indicat-

ed in the display’s status bar.
