Connecting the DSM150
The Maretron DSM150 provides a connection to an NMEA 2000
®
interface through a connector that
can be found on the back of the unit. Use the supplied DSM150CABLE-01.0 adapter cable to convert
the 12-pin Deutsch connector on the back of the unit to a standard Micro NMEA 2000
®
connector.
The NMEA 2000
®
connector is a five pin male connector (see Figure 1). You connect the DSM150 to
an NMEA 2000
®
network using a Maretron NMEA 2000
®
cable (or compatible cable) by first plugging
the female Deutsch connector on the DSM150CABLE-01.0 adapter cable into the connector on the
back of the DSM150 unit, and then connecting the female end of the NMEA 2000
®
network cable to
the male connector on the DSM150CABLE-01.0 adapter cable (note the key on the male connector
and keyway on the female connector). Be sure the cable is connected securely and that the collar on
the cable connector is tightened firmly. Connect the other end of the cable (male) to the NMEA 2000
®
network in the same manner. The DSM150 is designed such that you can plug or unplug it from an
NMEA 2000
®
network while the power to the network is connected or disconnected. Please follow
recommended practices for installing NMEA 2000
®
network products.

2.4.1 Checking the Connection
Once the NMEA 2000
®
connection to the Maretron DSM150 has been completed, observe the
display to check to see that information is being properly received. One way to verify connectivity is to
enter the device selection menu, which is described in Section 5.2.3.2. Refer to Section 10,
“Troubleshooting”, if no information appears.
