CHAPTER 4 - MAINTENANCE
ALL MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS MUST
BE CARRIED OUT AFTER UNPLUGGING
THE MACHINE FROM THE CURRENT TAP
(SEE PARAGRAPH 1-11).
In this chapter we will detail the most frequent
maintenance operations. For more complex
operations refer to the exploded views in the
following chapter for the exact disassembling
and reassembling procedures and for the refer-
ence codes of any spare parts. However, it is
advisable to contact our after-sales service to
obtain all necessary explanations.
WARNING
4-1
ADJUSTING THE SELF-BRAKING
MOTOR BRAKING EFFECT
The radial arm saws machine is equipped with
a self-braking motor which, under normal cir-
cumstances, needs no particular intervention.
When the machine is off, the motor braking
effect prevents the blade from being moved. To
move the blade manually when the motor is off,
one would need to overcome the resistance of
the braking effect, which is continuously and
constantly operating. If, from a preliminary
check, the braking effect turns out to be too
strong, carry out the following operations:
1) Remove the motor cover;
2) Remove the cooling fan;
3) Check the motor brake and the underlying
return springs for free operation by acting
on the drive shaft;
4) Fit everything back into place and check the
movement as described above by tighten-
ing the locking and adjusting nut to the
extent that it does not hinder the play in the
movements;
5) Close everything again.
4-2
PERIODICAL LUBRICATION AND
CLEANING OF THE MACHINE
Always keep the worktable clean by removing
the sawdust formed during work. Special care
is needed with dust and dirt build-ups in sliding
areas (vertical pillar, carriage slideways inside
the arm, etc.). These parts must not only be
cleaned, but also moderately greased.
