PRECAUTIONS
DURING
MAINTENANCE
PRECAUTIONS DURING WELDING REPAIRS
Welding must be performed only in a location with
the proper facilities and only by qualified persons.
Welding must never be performed by unqualified
persons, as there is a risk of gas generation, fire,
or electric shock when welding.
PRECAUTIONS WHEN HANDLING BATTERY
Turn the starter switch to the "OFF" position when
handling the battery. Also turn the disconnecting
switch to "OFF" to shut off the electrical circuit
Wait at least one minute after turning the starter
switch to "OFF" before turning the disconnecting
switch to "OFF".
The battery produces flammable hydrogen gas,
which carries the risk of explosion.
The battery fluid contains diluted sulphuric acid.
Incorrect handling may result in personal injury,
explosion, or fire. Always observe the following
precautions:
• BATTERY EXPLOSION HAZARDS
Do not smoke or use naked flames near the
battery.
The battery generates flammable hydrogen
gas when it is being recharged.
Before recharging it, remove it from the
machine and recharge in a well-ventilated
place. Remove the battery cap while
recharging.
Securely tighten the battery cap afterwards.
• DILUTED SULFURIC ACID HAZARDS
Always wear protective glasses and rubber
gloves when handling the battery.
If the battery fluid enters your eyes, wash
immediately with water and seek medical
attention as soon as possible.
If the battery fluid comes into contact with
your clothing or skin, immediately wash it off
with plenty of water.
• DISCONNECTING BATTERY TERMINALS
・
When removing the battery, be sure to
disconnect the grounding (-) terminal first.
Conversely when reinstalling, first connect
the positive (+) terminal before attaching the
grounding end (-) terminal.
Connect the battery terminals securely.
Secure the battery in its specified position.
•
SPARK HAZARDS
To prevent sparking, strictly observe the
following precautions:
Never allow metal objects such as tools to
come into contact with battery terminals. Do
not leave tools or other objects near the
battery.
