6.16 INSPECTION
5/2020 CC1908S-1
6-31
INSPECTION
BEFORE
STARTING ENGINE
Check the following in this section without starting
the engine and before starting work every day:
[1] Cooling water level inspection/refilling
WARNING
• Do not open the radiator cap under normal
circumstances while the engine is hot.
Inspect the cooling water in the sub tank
after the engine has cooled.
• The cooling water will be hot after the engine
has stopped. Similarly, pressure will still be
built up inside the radiator. If the cap is
opened in this state, the cooling water may
blow out, resulting in burn injuries. When
removing the radiator cap, allow the cooling
water to cool down, then turn the cap slowly
to release the pressure before carefully
removing it.
1.
Stop the machine on a level surface.
2.
Open the right cover.
3.
Inspect the sub tank (1) level, and check that
the cooling water is between "FULL" and
"LOW".
4.
If the cooling water level is lower than the
"LOW" level, refill with tap water using the
following procedure:
1.
Remove the sub tank (1) cap and refill with
water via the feed port up to the "FULL"
level.
2.
After refilling the cooling water, securely
close the sub tank (1) cap.
IMPORTANT
If the sub tank is empty, there may be a water
leak. Repair immediately if any abnormality is
found after inspection.
If no abnormality is found, inspect the cooling
water level in the radiator. If the cooling water
is low, feed cooling water to the radiator and
then to the sub tank.
5.
Close the right cover.
[2] Engine oil level inspection/refilling
WARNING
Parts and oil will be hot immediately after the
engine stops, so there is a risk of burn
injuries.
Also, the oil level cannot be accurately
gauged due to oil expansion.
Wait until the temperature drops before
starting the work.
IMPORTANT
• For details on the oil used, refer to "6.5.1
USE OF FUEL AND LUBRICATING OIL
DEPENDING ON TEMPERATURE" on P. 6-11.
Using oil other than that specified may
shorten the service life of the engine. Be
sure to refill with the specified oil.
• Keep the engine oil at an appropriate level.
Overfilling with oil will increase oil
consumption and oil temperature, resulting
in faster oil deterioration. Too little oil may
cause the engine to seize up.
• Be careful to avoid allowing any foreign
matter into the oil inlet opening when
replenishing the oil.
1.
Stop the machine on a level surface.
2.
Open the machinery cover.
