Performing a Secondary Installation
This section assumes that:
• You already have a system with Windows XP or .NET installed on it.
• You have already installed your Mylex PCI RAID controller into your
system.
Microsoft Windows XP or .NET Installation Procedure
1. Power on the system. Windows XP or .NET will detect new hardware.
A few brief messages will be displayed. There will be no action to take
at this point.

Although you can now use your Mylex controller with the driver that
was embedded on the Microsoft Windows XP or .NET operating
system CD-ROM, we strongly recommend that you use the Windows
XP or.NET driver supplied with your Mylex Software Kit.
2. Create a Windows XP or .NET driver diskette in one of the following
ways:
• Retrieve the appropriate driver image file from the designated web
site and create a driver diskette from the DOS image file.
• Retrieve the appropriate driver image file from the Mylex Software
Kit CD-ROM and create a driver diskette from the DOS image file.
• If you are using Mylex Software Kit 4.04 or later, insert the CD-
ROM into a system running Windows 95 / 98, Windows NT,
Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows .NET, then click on
“Create Software Diskettes” from the RAID Management Software
Installation menu. See Appendix A for details.
