The Sondek CD12 allows you to choose a precise position on a disc
with an accuracy of one second, which is useful for accurately
selecting a specific cue point on the disc, or for locating a
particular segment of music.
To search forwards or backwards

Each press steps the disc position by 1 second, which is
useful for selecting a specific position while the disc is paused.
Alternatively, holding down the button gradually accelerates
the search speed. If the disc is paused the search speed
increases to approximately 100 times normal speed, or

minutes of playing time per second. When the disc is playing,
the speed is limited to approximately 20 times normal speed
to allow the music to be heard during the search.
If you were displaying the track number before
you started searching, the display will
automatically change to show the track time.

Otherwise the currently selected time display
is updated to show the new disc position as you search.
If you search while the
disc is stopped it will
automatically be paused
before searching.
If you search past the
beginning or end of a
track the display briefly
shows the number of the
next track.
