The Roxx is a wheelchair for users with various
handicaps. Transfers from the wheelchair to,
for example, a bed, toilet or shower and vice
versa can be made in various ways. The extent
to which the wheelchair occupant is able to
cooperate determines how he or she should
be lifted. Both active and passive transfers
are possible with the Roxx, if required with
the aid of the care provider or using a lift.
Getting in and out of the chair yourself
Note:
Engage the brake on the wheelchair
before getting in or out.
Note:
Do not use the brake as an aid to
get up.
n
Fold up the footrests.
n
Lift the legrest up a little.
n
Swing the legrest outward*, or remove it.
If you have a Comfort legrest, fold the calfrest
backwards if necessary.
n
Lift your leg off the calfrest.
n
Press the round knob so that the calfrest
folds backwards.
n
Take care when getting in and out of the
chair.
In the event of a sideward transfer, you can,
if required, remove or if possible fold up the
sides.
Tackling obstacles
When tackling obstacles on your own,
Life & Mobility recommends practicing
extensively under the supervision of a
therapist.
Note:
When travelling up a slope, the centre of
gravity will move backwards, making it easier for
the wheelchair to tip over backwards.
Life & Mobility advises less experienced users to adjust
the wheelchair somewhat so that its characteristics are
less active and to fit it with an anti-tipping support.
Tackling obstacles with an accompanying person:
n
Push down with your foot on the tipping lever and
push down on the push-handles.
n
Push the wheelchair onto the obstacle and remove
your foot from the tipping lever.
n
Push the wheelchair further and lift the back
wheels over the obstacle using the push-handles.
You can mount a kerb forwards, but it is better to
descend backwards.
Note:
Keep your speed under control on slopes.
Brakes
The brakes of the Roxx are correctly adjusted as
standard.
n
The correct manner of braking is by pushing both
the left and the right brake levers forward.
n
The brake decouples by exerting a slight backward
pressure on the brake lever. The brake will be
returned to the correct position by a spring.
n
The brakes are only intended as a parking brake,
not to slow down the wheelchair.
