Unpack the optional tray, and then remove all packing material.

Place the tray near the printer.

Turn the printer off.

Align the printer to the tray, and then lower the printer into place.
Note:
Optional trays lock together when stacked. When necessary, remove stacked trays one at a time from the
top down.

Turn the printer back on.

Set the printer software to recognize the optional input source. For more information, see “Updating available
options in the printer driver” on page 38.
Attaching cables
CAUTION—POTENTIAL INJURY:
Do not use the fax feature during a lightning storm. Do not set up this product
or make any electrical or cabling connections, such as the fax feature, power cord, or telephone, during a lightning
storm.
Connect the printer to the computer using a USB cable or Ethernet cable.
Be sure to match the following:
•
The USB symbol on the cable with the USB symbol on the printer
•
The appropriate Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port
