Device-specific safety notices
WARNING
ATTENTION, LASER RADIATION!
If you look into the beam path over a longer time period, the retina of your eye may be damaged!
Never look directly into the beam path!
Do not point the laser beam of the BPS at persons!
When mounting and aligning the BPS, avoid reflections of the laser beam off reflective surfaces!
Adhere to the applicable legal and local regulations regarding protection from laser beams acc. to
EN 60825 (IEC 60825) in its latest version.
CAUTION! The use of operating or adjusting devices other than those specified here or carrying out
of differing procedures may lead to dangerous exposure to radiation.
If, a stationary beam is emitted, the failing BPS should be disconnected from its power source imme
-
diately.
The glass optics cover is the only aperture through which laser radiation may be observed on this prod
-
uct.
A failure of the scanner motor while the laser diode continues to emit a laser beam may cause the
emission level limit to be exceeded. The BPS has safeguards to prevent this occurrence.
The device must not be tampered with and must not be changed in any way.
There are no user-serviceable parts inside the device.
The device must not be opened.
If the device is opened, there is a risk of injury to the retina.
Repairs must only be performed by Leuze electronic GmbH + Co. KG.
NOTICE
Must be observed!
The BPS fulfills the EN 60825-1 (IEC 60825-1) safety regulations for a product in laser class 2 as well
as the U.S. 21 CFR 1040.10 class 2 regulations with deviations corresponding to “Laser Notice
No. 50” from June 24th, 2007.
The BPS uses a laser diode with low power in the visible red light range. The emitted wavelength is
655 nm.
The average laser power is less than 1 mW in accordance with laser class 2 acc. to EN 60825-1
(IEC 60825
-
1).
Located inside the protective housing of the BPS is a laser diode of laser class 3B.
The laser diode can emit a maximum output power of 12 mW CW (data sheet value, absolute maxi
-
mum rating).
NOTICE
Attach stick-on label to the device!
It is important that you attach the stick-on labels (see figure 2.2) supplied to the BPS.
If the signs would be covered due to the installation situation of the BPS, attach them instead in the
immediate vicinity of the BPS in such a way that reading the signs cannot lead to looking into the laser
beam.
Warning notices are to be affixed to the housing of the BPS, next to the exit window (see figure 2.1).
