Chapter 3. Internal cable routing

Note:
Disengage all latches, release tabs, or locks on cable connectors when you disconnect cables from
the system board. Failing to release them before removing the cables will damage the cable sockets on the
system board, which are fragile. Any damage to the cable sockets might require replacing the system board.
Cable routing for 2.5-inch drives
Follow the instructions in this section to learn how to do cable routing for 2.5-inch drives.
Go through the following list to acquire necessary information before starting cable routing for 2.5-inch
drives.
Preliminary parts removal and installation
1. Make sure the following components are removed beforehand:
• Top cover (see “Remove the top cover” on page 214)
• Processor and memory expansion tray (see “Remove the processor and memory expansion tray” on
• Fan cage (see “Remove the fan cage assembly” on page 130)
2. Make sure to install all the drive backplanes that you plan to installed (see “Install a drive backplane” on
