Leica L5 FL

- All fiber-optics outputs that are not used in the operation
must always be located at a safe distance—at least 10 cm—
from heat-sensitive or inflammable light-absorbing materials
with activated light source (avoiding possible fire hazards).
- For this reason, pay attention to the safe distance with fiber-
optic materials, e.g. from dark/colored textiles and
dark/colored wood or plastic surfaces.
- To avoid unnecessary stress on biological tissue through
illumination with visible light, reduce the brightness and
duration of the illumination to the absolute necessary
measure.
It is absolutely necessary that:
- the Leica L5 FL cold-light source is operated with the
voltage listed on the identification label (17).
- all ventilation openings (13, 14, 15) must be kept open; with
insufficient cooling, an integrated thermal circuit breaker
temporarily switches off the instrument (see page 22
"Removing Malfunctions").
- the lamp has cooled off before replacing it. As a reminder,
a warning label is affixed in the door of the lamp housing.
- the filter wheel has cooled off before removing it. It is
equipped with the warning label.
- the light source is operated only with inserted filter wheel.
The filter wheel must always be located in one of the five
lock-in positions.
