Select DRUG CAL from the display popup menu in the main screen, Drug
Calculation window will popup on the screen as shown in Figure 4.11.
DRUG CAL
Drug : Set or Change the drug from the drop down list.
The corresponding message weight dependent / independent
is displayed depends on the drug selected.
Patient Weight : Enter Patient Weight in kg or lb. Star 55 converts the weight entered
into kg and is displayed.

Patient Weight and the Unit field is masked when weight independent drug is selected.
Drop factor should be given as input only when drop infusion pump is used for infusing
the drug.
Dose : Enter the dose of drug from the Numeric key pad.
On clicking ‘unit’ a drop down menu containing mg/kg/min, mcg/
kg/ min, mg/kg/hr, mcg/kg/hr etc
is displayed when weight
dependent drug is selected & mg/min, mcg/min mg/hr, mcg/
hr etc is displayed when weight independent drug is selected.
Quantity of Drug : Enter the Quantity of Drug from the Numeric Key pad.
On clicking ‘unit’ a drop down menu containing mg, mcg is displayed.
Volume : Enter the Volume of Drug in ml from the Numeric Keypad.
Drop Factor : Enter the Drop Factor of Drug in Drops/ml from the Numeric
Keypad.
