Storing the Mower
DANGER
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
Always secure equipment with solid, non-concrete supports
before working under it. Never go under equipment supported
by concrete blocks or hydraulics. Concrete can break,
hydraulic lines can burst, and/or hydraulic controls can be
actuated even when power to hydraulics is off.
WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
•
Store the machine in a suitable, safe place with restricted
access and fixed boundaries to prevent access by
unauthorized persons.
•
Ensure that the machine is in a safe state when putting it
into storage (e.g. mower components are locked from
movement).
•
Always follow “Tractor Shutdown Procedure” provided in
this manual before dismounting the tractor.
•
Do not alter implement or replace parts on the implement
with other brands. Other brands may not fit properly or
meet OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
specifications. They can weaken the integrity and impair the
safety, function, performance, and life of the implement.
Replace parts only with genuine OEM parts.
•
Prohibit children from playing on or around the implement.
Select a parking area to which no unauthorized persons
have direct access. Metal corners and working blades of the
implement can cause serious injuries.
The implement must be parked on a firm, flat and level
surface, in a dry, sheltered area, with all machine
components locked mechanically in position so that the
machine itself does not pose a risk to persons or animals.
Clean, inspect, service, and make necessary repairs to
the Offset Flail Mower when storing it for long periods and
at the end of the season. This will help to ensure the unit
is ready for field use the next time you hook-up to it.
1. Remove any dirt, grease, and product that has
accumulated on the mower and its moving parts.
Scrape off compacted dirt and trash from the machine
and then wash its surface thoroughly with a garden
hose. A coating of oil may also be applied to the lower
areas to minimize oxidation.
IMPORTANT:
Before storing the machine, it is
recommended to carry out a number general
maintenance operations, which will help to ensure it
functions properly when the new season begins.
IMPORTANT:
Avoid spraying pressurized jets of
water onto the bearing seals.
2. Store the mower on a firm, flat, and level surface in a
clean, dry place with all machine components locked
mechanically in position so that the machine itself
does not pose a risk to persons or animals. Inside
storage will reduce maintenance and make for a
longer mower life.
3. To disconnect the implement from the tractor (See
4. Check that the driveline is connected correctly to the
mower, all guards and shields are intact, and in
proper working order. Support the free end in its
driveline carrier to keep the yoke out of the dirt.
5. Check the tightness of all nuts, bolts, and hydraulic
connections. Tighten loose hardware and hydraulic
connections.
6. Check condition and tension of the belts. Refer to
7.
Check the functionality of all components. Check for
loose, damaged, or worn parts. Adjust and tighten
loose parts. Replace damaged and worn parts with
genuine OEM parts only.
8. Grease all components fitted with grease zerks.
“Lubricating Schedule and Points”
9. Check oil level in the gearbox. Refer to
10. Lubricate all sliding surfaces and the hydraulic
cylinder rods in particular.
11. Cover the quick couplings on the hydraulic hoses
with the coupler caps.
12. Repaint parts where paint is worn or scratched to
prevent rust. Ask your dealer for Land Pride aerosol
touch-up paint. They are also available in touch-up
bottles with brush, quarts, and gallon sizes by adding
TU, QT, or GL to the end of the aerosol part number.
13. An anti-rust treatment may be applied to the areas
where paint is worn off in lieu of paint to minimize
oxidation.
14. Replace all damaged or missing decals.
