8. Ensure that all moving parts of the flail mower are
correctly secured to avoid any dangerous situation
while transporting on a public road.
9. The tractor lights and/or slow moving vehicle sign
(SMV) must be clearly visible from the back to warn
approaching operators in other vehicles.
•
for detailed information.
•
If the tractor lights are not visible from the back,
install supplementary lights on the mower.
10. Remove debris such as rocks and clumps of dirt from
the machine to prevent fouling the road during
transport.
11. Select a safe ground travel speed when transporting
from one area to another. When traveling on
roadways, transport in such a way that faster moving
vehicles may pass safely.
12. Be sure to reduce tractor ground speed when turning,
leaving enough clearance so that the mower does
not contact obstacles such as buildings, trees,
fences, etc.
13. When traveling over rough or hilly terrain, shift tractor
to a lower gear.
Maximum Driveline Operating Angle

Maximum Driveline Operating Angle
Refer to Figure 3-2:
WARNING
!
To prevent serious injury or death:
Do not lift the flail mower excessively when the power take-off
is running. This may cause the driveline to angle excessively
and fail, causing serious injury to the operator and damage to
the flail mower itself.
1. The maximum driveline operating angle is 25°.
2. Always disengage the power take-off if approaching
the maximum operating driveline angle. Wait for the
driveline to stop rotating before raising the mower
above the maximum operating driveline angle.

Refer to Figure 3-3:
CAUTION
!
To prevent serious injury:
A gearbox that has been operating may be too hot to touch.
Allow the gearbox to cool before working around it.
Additional markings are required for road transport in the
United States and some Canadian provinces. A “Slow-
Moving Vehicle” (SMV) sign (#3) is provided to meet this
requirement.
The sign must be used on slow moving equipment when
traveling on public roadways as follows:
•
The SMV sign must be utilized on equipment that are
not exceeding 25 mph (40 km/h) travel speed.
•
The SMV sign must be removed when traveling speeds
exceed 25 mph (40 km/h) including when hauling the
equipment on a truck or trailer.
•
The SMV sign must be visible to people in rear
approaching vehicles.
1. The SMV mount (#1) is bolted to the left-hand side
panel on the flail head. Insert SMV sign (#3) into
mounting socket (#4).
2. Secure sign (#3) in socket (#4) with wire retaining
pin (#2).
